Seven of the most commonly known pest's:
Ants:
About: Ants are undoubtedly the most dominant group of living creatures on earth. There are more than 800 species of ants. Ants are a nuisance in buildings and can be an medical problem when infesting health care facilities.
Prevention: No way of prevention.
Treatment: Residual insecticides, applied as a water emulsion. Whole structure treated on the inside and parameter of structure on the outside is treated.
Cockroaches:
About: Cockroaches are omnivorous and will eat almost anything that is edible. Cockroaches spread bacteria and viruses mechanically by walking over contaminated surfaces, and can harbour and spread many harmful organisms.
Prevention: Keep everything scrupulously clean. All food should be put away.
Treatment: Residual insecticides, applied as a water emulsions. Applied to cockroach harbourages with emphasis on cracks and crevices.
Bees:
About: Bees invade homes and outbuildings causing a nuisance and aggravation. Bees is modified into a sting for defensive purposes.
Prevention: No prevention possible;
Treatment: Residual chemical sprays are used. Nest and honey removed if possible.
Fleas:
About:Fleas are temporary parasites and usually get on their hosts to feed at least once a day Fleas carry disease from rats to humans.
Prevention: Keep the house and all outbuildings as clean as possible. Regular sweeping and scrubbing of floors. Domestic animals should be kept in a clean condition.
Treatment: A chemical treatment should be done on premises. Host animals must also be treated.
Flies:
About: Flies can be a serious public health nuisance in and around food-handling establishments and residential areas.
Prevention: Good housekeeping and especially outdoor sanitation is required to keep flies to a minimum.
Treatment: Residual insecticides are applied to fly-resting areas such as building walls.
Rodents:
About: Rats produce litters average 6-14. A female have up to 10 litters per annum. Rats transmit diseases like Murine typhus, salmonellosis, ratbite fever etc.
Prevention:
Clear vegetation around buildings, remove debris that can serve as harborage sites. Inside buildings food should be stored 30-45cm of the floor.
Treatment: A bait is used which include a toxic ingredient which kills rodents efficiently and humanely.
Termites:
About: Termites is one of the most destructive groups of all insects. Termites do damage to wood, paper, curtains and clothing.
Prevention: Soil poisoning of structure foundations when it is erected.
Treatment: A chemical post construction
